Rinsing mouth with salt water (brine)?

Hey Yahooanswers! I've always been brought up in a household where my mother would boil some water, dissolve some salt and make me rinse my mouth with warm brine. I've moved out and begun to flat with my mate who's a relatively lazy guy and just uses cold water with salt. Does it make a difference? Is warm brine cleaner/better than cold brine? Or are they just the same?
