Should I get my male dutch rabbit neutered?

I have a male dutch rabbit, he's so playful and he is very lovey. But, he has one problem...he sprays. When I change his bedding in his play area he pees every where. Including me. I don't enjoy being peed on every time I clean his cage. I was planning on getting him neutered and having him recover in a large cage inside my house for awhile.But I did research on the internet and heard that some rabbits die during surgery.But I heard there is upsides after the surgery. My rabbit is 6 months old and male. Is this a good idea to do?
