What major should I go into if I want to be a Fashion Stylist and Assistant for designers?

Some form of apparel or fashion design would be an appropriate major. See examples for Wisconsin and MInnesota below. Duke is a great school, but I don't know if it offers a major in this area. I don't know much about FIT, but it is a more specialized school than the others.
