Why is a food processor so much quieter than a blender?

My experience with using a Cruisinart 7-cup food processor is that the only noise it makes is a slight hum of the very powerful motor. However, using my Hamilton Beach blend makes a huge noise similar to that of a vacuum cleaner. Why is one machine's motor so quiet and the other machine is so loud?
